From old men sitting on the curb playing classical music on a violin and work-worn women carrying shopping bags to Dracula's castle and stone-walled ancient cities, visiting Romania introduced me to a country on the cusp of becoming a tourist destination.
Recently, this former Communist country was named among the top 10 emerging countries to visit for adventure travel, in a survey by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), George Washington? University and Vital Wave Consulting. These pictures of Romania hint at why it's a fascinating place to explore.
